Engineering Student Council Committees

2023 - 2024

Note: From year to year, some executives may not have committees.

External Vice President Committee (EVP)

The External Vice President's Committee focuses on projects that involve affiliates of the College of Engineering, including clubs, administrative groups, and external organizations. Projects include but are not limited to FMPI (the Free Menstual Product Initiative), the Blue and Gold Certification Program, and the expansion of ethics education to both faculty and students.

Technical Committee

The Technical Commitee is responsible for creating, managing, updating, and optimizing the ESC suite of applications and technology. The technical committee in the past has managed the following applications: Google Drive, Internal Website, ESC Website, and the ESC Email and Web Servers (Via the OCF). This year, we plan to continue updating this software and also develop new applications to be used by ESC.

Finance Committee (FiComm)

The Finance Committee is responsible for the disbursement of funds for Blue and Gold organizations. This is handled through the annual Initial Allocations process as well as year-round FiComm meetings, which give organizations a chance to request additional funds. In addition, FiComm strives to achieve a greater sense of community within the College of Engineering by organizing finance workshops and other related events.

Internal Vice President Committee (IVP)

The Internal Vice President’s Committee is centered around advocating for and supporting student organizations and the student body. In addition, the committee works to improve relationships between departments and students, focusing especially on initiatives related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Communications Committee

The Communications Committee is responsible for handling social media engagement and for maintaining relations with the ESS, the College of Engineering, and all Blue and Gold certified clubs. In addition, the committee is responsible for photography, videography and graphic designing for all events. Specific projects include:

  • Sending out weekly newsletters to the engineering student body
  • Managing the Universal Google Calendar
  • Organizing “Day in a life of a Berkeley Engineer” and other Instagram series
  • Recruiting new club members
  • Engineers' Week Committee (EWeek)

The Engineers' Week Committee plans one of the biggest events in the College of Engineering. The committee is tasked with working with ESC's corporate sponsors, partnering with Blue and Gold certified organizations, and working with the administration to host this weeklong event. Some of the events planned by the committee for 2020 were Engineers Ball and Engineering 4 Kids Day

    Internal Affairs Committee

The Internal Affairs Committee fosters community in ESC through social events and fun activities. It also implements methods to promote participation in general meetings, executive meetings, and socials.

    Facilities

Facilities focuses on providing and maintaining resources and facilities to both ESC and Blue & Gold certified clubs. As of 2023-2024, the Facilities Manager does this and there is no facilities committee.
